4th Annual KCVJMC Spring Show and Swap benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA)

Saturday, May 10th 2014 9a-2p

This event featured 300+ spectators, 125+ show motorcycles, 50+ motorcycles in the "parking lot" and 15+ different swap meet vendors.

Thank you to all show bike participants, spectators, vendors and sponsors for such a tremendous success!  The event raised $4,100 in our fight to prevent and cure muscular dystrophy.  If you attended the event and donated, thank you so much for your kind generosity.  Our club strives to provide vintage Japanese motorcycle enthusiasts fun, worthwhile events you can be proud to attend.  Feel good about your donation.  Our club members gave their time putting the show together and all event donations went directly to MDA.

Congratulations and thanks once again from the entire KCVJMC!  Well done, Kansas City!

Our 4th Annual Saturday, 5/10/14 KCVJMC Spring Show and Swap is in the books and it’s safe to say we had a fantastic show!  Mark Bayer, KCVJMC President, and I want to personally thank our sponsors, volunteers, and attendees for making this one of the largest vintage Japanese motorcycle shows in recent Kansas City history.  There are specific thanks we want to share so here we go.

THANK YOU Donnell Shiflett, Bart Shiflett, Tony Yager, Chris Thacker and the entire staff at Donnell’s Motorcycles!  They were gracious hosts by allowing us complete access to your dealership during the event.  The dealership literally opened the doors to provide their entire parking lot for KCVJMC bikes and swap.  They also donated lots fun (and expensive) schwag for giveaways, too.  When you think of a friend to the KCVJMC, think Donnell’s Motorcycles.  Remember that when you buy your next motorcycle, need service, or want parts.

THANK YOU KCVJMC member Joe Galetti!  This show would not be possible without Joe’s help.  It’s that simple.  He continues to amaze us with his strong connections throughout the community.  Joe, once again, outshines the previous year’s effort and he gives way more than you realize.  Without you, Joe, this Spring show would not be possible.  Thank you again.

THANK YOU Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) staff members Darrell Smith, MDA Regional Director, and Brian Studdard, Executive Director!  Our club members understand we “get more when we give” so we’re proud to raise funds for the MDA.  Thanks for continuing as a great partner.  Our thanks to your staff as well for attending the show and making sure all money raised goes finding a cure for this terrible disease.

THANK YOU Union Shop Apparel and owner Bob Palmer!  Not only do you provide the American-made t-shirts for our show but you provided our custom design.  We thank Stacey Dujakovich and the entire Union Shop Apparel staff for making sure the final design was perfect with the VJMC logo, Black Bomber motorcycle image, and three 2014 show dates.

THANK YOU Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG), Festival Foods, Donut King and Ray’s Donuts!  You kept our hungry participants well fed during the morning and afternoon with your generous food donations.  All monies raised through food sales went to fight muscular dystrophy as well.  We cannot thank you enough for making sure our energy remained high the entire event.

THANK YOU Independence Fire Department Color Guard!  You made us proud by presenting our American flag with honor, pride, and dedication.  You were crisp and professional and we’re grateful for the reminder we live in the best country on the planet.

THANK YOU Independence city councilman Chris Whiting!  We know you stopped by even though you had a very busy Saturday schedule.  Everyone appreciated your acknowledgment of both Donnell’s commitment to the city and our MDA fund raising event.  Thank you for the kind words and motivational dedication.

THANK YOU WDAF-TV FOX 4 host Mark Alford!  It means a great deal to see your appreciation for vintage Japanese motorcycles.  Welcome to our club and thank you for stopping by to recognize our event.

THANK YOU KCVJMC honorary member Wade Walker!  Your sizable donation to MDA was an exceptional gift on our behalf and we can’t thank you enough for the support.

THANK YOU KCVJMC members!  The entire event is not possible without your dedication and love for vintage Japanese motorcycles.  They put in countless hours of time before, during, and after the show to ensure everything runs smoothly.  In no particular order but all of significant importance:  John B., Calvin R., Bill and Sandy B., Jim B., James H., Jim K., Claude C., Cliff, Joe R., Bob G., Drew W., Fred R. Jr., Mike J., Mike K., Ron C., Kenri H., and Kelli B.

If you know of an entity or individual we failed to mention contact us directly. It was an unintended omission and we'll ensure proper recognition is given.
